Ko Toa all the way!!

kO TAO ................. Well you know I said I loved koh pang Ngan I love this island twice as much.
We have been here for seven days and are leaving for krabi tomorrow I cannot tell you how much I shall miss this island.
We got here at 2pm one afternoon, We struggled to find cheap accomodation as everyone who was at the full moon is also heading over to ko tao, we eventually found a small room for 400bt, a very hot small room I may add. As we were looking around, we decided to ask about diving in the shops to get a general idea of prices, we came across a dive school run by irish guys and accomodation was included in the course so we booked it and moved in straight away.
The dive course is called open water, this qualifies you to dive where ever you like, not having to have some one hold you or go throught the instuctions of diving each time. We started on the second day of Koh Tao this part wasnt included in the three days its just to introduce you to your instructor and get your details the fun begins the next day.
Day one : start 7:oo am
Me and charlotte arose out of our pits at 6:45, had our breakfast which we purchased from the local 7/11 (tesco basically) stumbled down to the dive shop where we were given a BC, wetsuit, and flippers. hopped on to the long tail boat which took us to the main boat which took us to our dive spot. We learnt how to connect the equipment and make sure it was all safe to dive. Suited up and ready to dive. We were taken to water which was standing hieght, this is where we practiced and learnt how to cope with situations under the water like if some one kicks your regulator out your mouth, or if your tank has run out of oxygen how to ask your buddy to breath out of his secondrey regulator. After learning these little important facts we were taken for a little dive five metres under the water, we saw loads of different types of fish, my favourite was the angel fish (me and charlotte getting a little excited at times and scared off a few fishes) . We then learnt how to do a emergency exit to the surface saftley. After the diving session in the morning we had a therory lession in the classroom for 2 hours.
Day 2 : start 7:00 am
Once again me and charlotte rolled out of our beds, its much easier when you know your going diving, to eat our little breaky from 7/11. We collected our equipment and made our way to the dive spot taking the same route as the day before.the difference between today and the day before is we do two dives and we start at 10 metres and go down to 15 metres, we saw so much more than the day before i wish i could name all the fish but i didnt know what half of them were if im honest. We got paired up with a "buddy" they say you should always go with a buddy. i got paired up with pepper a canadian guy he was so funny, i kept losing him underwater looking around and then looked up he was above lol. (you had to be there moment i think). On the second dive they had a little obstical course for us to go through before the actuall dive started, they needed to know you were confidant and use to going round up down and squeeze through gaps. (so much fun) When we were going through a crack in the coral i cut my finger on the coral which was fine until i looked at it , the blood was greeny black, i thought i turned in to and alien. i showed tom the assistant instructor he just did the ok sign, i looked at my finger and thought this isnt normal it carnt be. When i got to the surface it was red again, appartently the first colour you lose when going underwater is red. We were back in the classroom for the afternoon.
Day 3 : start 7:00 am
This day was the best day for diving, the water was so clear, the instructor said it hadnt been that good in ages. (hell yeh) We went down to 18 meters, and saw sooo many amazing things from fish to corals to wierd things. We had a camera guy following us so i have a video of this dive. We were all filmed taking of our googles and putting on a pair of funky sunglasses and doing a dance sooo funny. I will have to show everyone the video as telling you about just will not do it justice. Me and char didnt want the dives to end we were loving it in this new world.
Discovering this new world has definatly been the highlight of my trip i intent on going back to kotao and doing my advanced course. The colours and peacfulness of diving is truly amazing i would recommend it to everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!
After our course finished we spent another three days on ko tao i think?!. on one of the days me, char and some of the guys we met diving went on a mini snorkel trip round the other side of the island where you are able to see sharks if your lucky. The beach we were snorkling of was small and tranquil not many people at all, the colour of the ocean was soo blue and you could see the coral from the beach (perfect). No time waisted we jumped right in, and guess what the first this i saw was, a shark, only a small one so its ok, black tip shark im sure you could find a picture on the internet. We snorkelled for 3 hours straight we didnt rrealise it was that long, thank god for factor 50 ay! yet again we saw sooo many different fish, we were all constantly diving down to swim with the fishes once again.
other days were spent lying on the beach and snorkling the local coral. i did not want to leave!
